Dave Fletcher, White October founder and MD, says:  “We have big plans to transform our position as a digital agency and to take on new technological challenges.  Chris’ passion for digital, underpinned by his hard work and experience in growing his own business, gives us the technical leadership we need to take us to new heights, while ensuring we continue to provide our clients with the best possible technology solutions.  We are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”

Chris Thorpe comments:  “White October has always had a great reputation for digital work and I’m delighted to join them. I’m looking forward to helping the organisation grow further in their technical work, explore new avenues of digital services to clients and to help build bridges to the vendors and technology companies that will enable White October to remain at the forefront and deliver even better solutions for their growing collection of impressive clients.”

After a distinguished technical career in early web agencies and science publishing, Chris was the founding CTO of Moshi Monsters. He subsequently helped set up The Guardian Open Platform and Government Digital Service and has worked with a variety of organisations such as JustGiving and the Design and Artists Copyright Society. He has also been a volunteer technology advisor for the Cass Sculpture Foundation for the last 20 years. In 2014 he co-founded and provided the technological acumen for I Can Make which creates fun, exciting kits for 3D printing in schools and the home.  Early success led I Can Make to become finalists in Richard Branson’s 2014 Pitch to Rich contest, and in HRH The Duke Of York’s 2015 Pitch at Palace contest.

Having established I Can Make with the technology it requires to thrive and enter a new phase focused on growing sales and content development, Chris Thorpe retains a position in the company, while devoting the majority of his time to the exciting new challenges at White October.  He can be contacted at White October at
