Remember teenage team Brush!, who won Best Commercial Potential and Audience Selection at the Oxford Emerging Tech Weekender back in November, with their innovative internet of things toothbrush project? Well they were in the office last week, working with our design team to map out a storyboard of a user’s journey through the app and the design of the app itself.
The full Brush team are meeting Princess Anne this week at Heron Tower, London, to demonstrate their prototype which will launch the Outbox Incubator this summer.
Matthew, interaction designer, worked with Jo Baptista to understand the Brush! requirements for this week and discussed ideas and options, sketching and scoping together. Jo is certainly good at sketching and getting her ideas across clearly! Check out Matthew and Jo at work.
First stage designs.
The Brush! project is progressing quickly. The smart toothbrush which sends information to parents and students about whether and how often children are brushing their teeth now has the electronic board selected, final designs of the handle almost complete and is programmed to visualise the data from the accelerometer as tooth brushing movements.
It’s all about teamwork. Jo has been in the White October office for a spot of work experience in the last month. The team also have two key mentors, Torsten Reil and Paul Topping from Natural Motion (an oxford based Games company bought by Zynga), to help drive their ideas forward with logical and business recommendation.
Joana Baptista of Team Brush!, “We’re always so delighted to come to White October, who helped us right from the beginning. Their hospitality and willingness to help always amazes us. They really have helped us an awful lot!!”
– Best of luck Brush! WO Team.
